People with Parkinson’s often suffer from freezing of gait, which can make someone suddenly unable to take a step. One thing proven to help is something called, ‘rhythmic haptic cueing’, or vibration therapy–but this tech is expensive and often inaccessible.
BuzzStep democratises this haptic treatment and puts it in devices that are already right in the community’s hands. 6.8 billion people worldwide own a smartphone, all of which have a vibrate mode.
Repurposing this existing tech could be the answer to free, accessible and vital care for people with Parkinson’s.

I concepted, produced and researched this app. But I also designed it too. Buzzstep is designed to be sustainable. Using black as the primary colour on the app can reduce screen power consumption on OLED devices by 30% to 65%.
It's also designed with the Parkinson's community in mind. It's UX is made to feel human and accessible–it's TOV taps into real-life experiences and insights, making users feel understood and supported.
